Visitor Information
Visitor Information Centre: Winter Trading Hours: 10 – 3, Friday, Saturday,Sunday and Monday. The Visitor Centre is volunteer-based and self-funded. The VIC now has a stall at the Pacific Palms Markets, last Sunday each month. If you are trying to find anything out about our area, chances are that the Visitor Centre will be able to help you. The volunteers have a wide range of local knowledge, and if they can’t help you with your enquiry, they’ll call someone who can! All maps, flyers and brochures, such as suggestions for wet weather activities or days in the hinterland are free. As the Palms is becoming a very popular wedding venue a comprehensive brochure featuring the services of businesses in the area is available to help plan for the Big Day. Come in and check out the inexpensive and exclusive gifts and souvenirs including the ever popular car stickers, locally printed tee shirts, hand-made jewellery, paintings by Jeannie Brassington, giftware from Tobwabba Indigenous Designs, and natural soaps in several aromatherapy varieties, including goats milk soap. There are postcards, hand-made Kamarooka Candles,Tianjara chutneys Books by local authors, and “Local Honey” from the Honey Man. For the convenience of those without a computer the VIC has the only public ADSL broadband, as well as Wi-Fi. If you have produce and crafts which are different from those already stocked, the committee will be happy to have a look and consider selling them on consignment for you. And why not advertise your business at the VIC, only $50 P.A. to display your brochure or card. Volunteering at the VIC is a great way to learn about your own area, and provides Volunteer hours for Centrelink workplace agreements. If you are interested, Contact VIC Coordinator Judy Donnelly on 4997 6055, or call the VIC 6554 0123.
