COOMBA SUSTAINABLE LIVING GROUP had its first meeting on March 22 at beautiful Rose Point. Which saw a number of local residents – young and old interested in learning how to live more sustainably. The topics that the group identified they were most interested in were very varied and included things such as soil improvement, holistic management, gardening and fruit trees, water collection and water quality, worms and composting, weed control, Permaculture, and Land for Wildlife and habitat protection. Including the Coomba Sustainable Living Group, there are eight Sustainable Farming Groups in the Great Lakes area. These groups are all about sharing knowledge and resources, supporting their members to take up more sustainable practices, and providing local networks for people with common interests. If you are interested in finding out more about these groups, please contact Great Lakes Council’s Catchment Coordinator, Helen Kemp at helen.kemp@greatlakes.nsw.gov.au
